State, Regional & Local Taxes

🇲🇱 MaliRegional & Cercle Taxes

Mali's 21 regions and cercles (districts) levy local taxes including Taxe de Résidence, property taxes, and business licence fees. Mali has been in severe political turmoil — military coups in 2020 and 2021, French military withdrawal, Russian PMC Wagner Group forces, and suspension from ECOWAS. Gold is the dominant export. The fiscal situation is extremely challenging with significant informal economy and conflict disruption, particularly in northern regions where terrorist groups control territory and tax trade routes informally.

🇩🇴 Dominican RepublicMunicipal Taxes

The Dominican Republic's 32 provinces and 158 municipalities levy the impuesto a la propiedad inmobiliaria (IPI) on properties above DOP 9.5M at 1%, commercial licences, and local service fees. The DGII (Dirección General de Impuestos Internos) administers national taxes. The DR has been one of the fastest-growing economies in Latin America, with tourism, manufacturing (free trade zones), and remittances as key pillars. Tax reform has been ongoing to improve collection and reduce evasion.
